‘Countless words count less than the silent balance between yin and yang.’
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Louise brings her diverse life adventures, experience living in traditional cultures, and an oriental perspective into the heart of the healing process. In the 1980s when acupuncture turned around severe asthma and steroid dependency, Louise was hooked. She entered a life-long commitment to alternative health practices. This has included practising homeopathy and touch for health, using art for healing and community development, counselling training, and a Doctorate in Trauma Healing.

‘I have chosen the Oriental Medicine pathway to further develop my intuitive and healing skills,’ Louise says.

‘I believe our bodies are continually striving for balance. Shiatsu accesses the traditional meridian pathways used in acupuncture, to nourish and restore, to alleviate pain and manage injuries.’

Louise loves the hands-on nature of shiatsu. She works intuitively, listening and responding to the body’s messages with deep concentration and inviting clients’ active involvement in the healing process. Oriental medicine is always interested in the spirit and how it resides in the body, or is separated from it.  Shiatsu enlivens this connection restoring wholeness.

What is shiatsu?

In a room with quiet music, you will lie on a soft mat on the floor.  Treatment takes place fully clothed. Gentle palpation of the belly area and feeling pulses at the wrist allows your practitioner to design a specific treatment for your needs. Coaxing fingers, thumbs, palms, elbows and feet will then place pressure along channels of the entire body; arms, legs, back, head and feet: energising tired parts and opening blockages. You may feel tingling from head to toe as your energy awakens in the hour-long process. Deep stretches enhance the relaxation. Cold body parts will be warmed, and warm areas cooled as part of nourishing all aspects of the body. At the end, your therapist will check for balance in belly area and wrist pulses. Changes here indicate that a deep healing process has begun. These effects will follow you out of the treatment room.
